  1.  The following instructions will give you a step-by-step procedure for
  2.  modifying the bandwidth of the receiver section of your Transceiver.
  3.  These changes will expand the VHF and UHF bands of the receiver as
  4.  shown below:

  9.  ( ) Disconnect the power plug to the Transceiver
  10.  
  11.  ( ) Place a towel or piece of carpet on top of your work area
  12.      so you do not scratch the Transceiver during the following steps.
  13.  
  14.  ( ) Position the transceiver with it's top down on the work surface, and
  15.      the rear of the radio facing you (antenna leads towards you).
  16.  
  17.  ( ) Pull out each side of the wire mounting stand and remove it from the
  18.      Transceiver (if it has been installed)
  19.  
  20.  ( ) Remove the five (5) screws that hold the bottom plate.
  21.  
  22.  ( ) Lift the bottom plate and hold it in your left hand. Then use long-nose
  23.      pliers to carefully unplug speaker plug J102. Set the bottom plate aside.

  53.  ( ) Referring to the diagram above, to expand the 144 MHz band, cut the
  54.      exposed bare lead of diode QD22. Bend the leads apart a little bit
  55.      so they will not accidentally touch each other.

  57.  ( ) Similarly, to expand the 450 MHz band, cut the lead of diode QD24.
  58.  
  59.  ( ) Reconnect the power plug and turn the Transceiver power on.

  61.  ( ) Write down the contents of your memory locations (the next step is
  62.      going to CLEAR the memory).
  63.  
  64.  ( ) Refer to the inset drawing and the area indicated by the pointer for
  65.      "Short Pins to Reset"
  66.  
  67.  ( ) Reset the Transceiver by briefly shorting together the two terminals
  68.      with a 1/4" or smaller flat-blade screwdriver. NOTE: The current
  69.      display will immediately disappear and the display frequencies will
  70.      be reset to 146.000 and 446.000 respectively.

  72.  ( ) Turn the Transceiver off and Disconnect Power.

  74.  ( ) Hold the bottom plate in your left hand while you plug in the speaker
  75.      plug J102. Then reinstall the bottom plate with the five screws you
  76.      removed earlier. DO NOT overtighten the screws; this could strip the
  77.      threads.

  79.  ( ) If you are using it, reinstall the wire mounting stand.

  81.  ( ) You can now reprogram your memory locations.

  83.    This completes the Receiver Bandwidth Modifications for your Twin Bander
  84.    Mobile Transceiver/Repeater.
